Renewable energies, emission reduction or the study of pollutant dispersion are fields where nablaDot has a wide experience. Recently, we have developed a tool that allows to couple local simulations (using CFD) with forcasting or weather reanalysis (carried out by means of mesoscale models). With this tool, we can assess the wind local field in any area (wind farms, rural or urban environments) in a highly detailed way. This is key to reach precise results in simulations applied to renewable energies or pollutant dispersion.
Combusting systems are complex and they must comply with diverse requirements, such as a proper heat transfer, low levels of unburnt fuel, pollutant concetrations under certain regulated limits and operation conditions that avoid damages in the boiler as a consequence of thermal fatigue, corrosion or erosion, among other phenomena.

Quite often compromise solutions must be found to these objectives; for example, the operating modes that diminish the pollutant generation usually increase the unburnt fuel production, and thus decrease the thermal efficiency of the boiler.
At nablaDot we analyze all these phenomena in a comprehensive way by means of simulation, studying the influence of changes in the geometry, fuel specifications or air distribution.

This sort of projects refer to the classic approximation where the client wants to analyze an existing problem, to gain knowledge about his process or to develop a new system and wants to externalize most of the work.
